Hello

I’m an instructional designer and accessibility specialist with over twenty years’ experience designing and delivering learning across education, aviation, and the emergency services. My work brings together a strong technical background, a creative approach to learning design, and a deep commitment to accessibility, inclusion, and neurodiversity. Whether I’m developing eLearning in Articulate Storyline 360, mentoring designers, or delivering live training, my goal is always the same, to create learning that works for everyone.

My Journey in Learning

Over the past twenty five years, I’ve built a career around helping people learn, in classrooms, on fire grounds, and through digital learning. My work combines creativity, technical skill, and a genuine belief that learning should be accessible and engaging for everyone.

I began my career in the music industry and higher education, training people from all backgrounds, from sound engineers to university students. I worked with companies such as Solid State Logic, d&b audiotechnik, and Sound Technology, delivering technical training and demonstrations across the UK and beyond. Alongside this, I lectured in music technology, developing blended learning and researching how digital feedback can make creative learning more accessible and inclusive.

That focus on meaningful, practical learning led me to the fire and rescue service, where I served as a firefighter, fire behaviour training instructor, and crew commander. I trained others in breathing apparatus, incident command, and live fire behaviour, and helped design digital learning to support competence programmes. I also worked with Fire and Police Services to raise awareness of neurodiversity and inclusion in operational training, an experience that shaped my passion for accessibility.

In 2022, I joined the aviation sector, designing digital learning for clients including easyJet, TAG Aviation, BAE Systems and Bombardier. I led accessibility within the Learning Design team, developing standards and templates that helped make training more inclusive for everyone.

Today, as Lead Instructional Designer at Bec Baker Instructional Design, I create accessible eLearning in Articulate Storyline 360 and Rise, mentor other designers, and help organisations embed inclusion from the start. As someone who is autistic and has ADHD, I understand how vital it is for learning to be flexible, welcoming, and free from barriers. That perspective gives me a strong sense of empathy and fuels my drive to design learning that truly supports every individual.
